{"id":1408,"date":"2022-04-08T13:53:05","date_gmt":"2022-04-08T17:53:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/?p=1408"},"modified":"2022-05-16T09:54:25","modified_gmt":"2022-05-16T13:54:25","slug":"letters-to-the-editor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-40-no-3\/letters-to-the-editor\/","title":{"rendered":"Letters to the Editor"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: left\"><b>Wants PEF parole lobby day<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><b>To the Editor:<\/b>\u00a0 Why is PEF not having a lobby day for parole officers? \u00a0This is outrageous that nothing has been done to stop Less Is More.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"right\"><b>AMY CUMMISKY<br \/>\n<\/b>Hamburg<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><b><i>Editor\u2019s Note:<\/i><\/b><i>\u00a0 PEF is lobbying intensively (<\/i><a id=\"LPlnk722953\" href=\"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-39-no-8\/pef-was-a-strong-foe-of-less-is-more-legislation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-39-no-8\/pef-was-a-strong-foe-of-less-is-more-legislation\/<\/a>)<i>\u00a0to educate state leaders and the public about the serious problems related to Less is More. We held rallies in late 2021 in New York City and Rochester and more recently in April 2022 members of PEF Division 236 were in Albany to lobby legislators during the annual conference held by the\u00a0<\/i><em>New York<\/em><i>\u00a0State Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus. We have introduced a bill in both houses of the state legislature to address the more onerous issues associated with the law.
