Some of the signs carried by PEF members said:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>We care for you when you need us most;<\/li>\n<li>COVID heroes deserve a fair contract;<\/li>\n<li>PEF: We Work for You;<\/li>\n<li>PEF: Respect us, Protect us, Pay us; and<\/li>\n<li>COVID responders deserve recognition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6042\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6042\" style=\"width: 230px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6042\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pef.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Danielle-Bridger-and-DebbieDonahue-OCFS.jpg\" alt=\"Daniell Bridger and Debbie Donahue Donahue from OCFS\" width=\"230\" height=\"307\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6042\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Region 8 Coordinator Danielle Bridger, left, poses with Debbie Donohue from OCFS, who despite her walking boot said, &#8220;You gotta show up&#8221; for labor solidarity.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It was, of course, a moment for PEF Region 8 to shine, with many of its members at the Albany County Probation Department joining PEF state workers in the parade. Workers didn\u2019t march alone, they were accompanied by their families, with many little ones in strollers as the older ones helped carry the union banners. Retired union members marched, too, with everyone sporting their union shirts and enjoying the lively spirit.<\/p>\n<p>Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan welcomed the marchers as the parade ended at the city\u2019s Corning Preserve along the Hudson River, where there was plenty of food for all of those who missed dinner to be in the parade.<\/p>\n<p>State legislators and members of Congress are up for election and several incumbents representing the Capital District also were on hand to share their support for union members, shake hands, hear their comments and answer their questions.
