Emerging leaders\u2019 initiative long overdue<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

To the Editor:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It seems that it took a while \u2013 over a decade, at least \u2013 but the idea for an \u201cEmerging Leaders Institute\u201d originated with me via a Convention resolution at least that many years ago.\u202f\u202f I don\u2019t recall if it passed or not (most of mine didn\u2019t, but that\u2019s beside the point), but I\u2019m grateful to see that, belatedly, PEF realized what a great idea it was, even if it took over a decade to realize it. If you don\u2019t fertilize and water your garden, it will never bear fruit. In this case, it\u2019s the younger members whose understanding of the importance of the labor movement is way down on their list of priorities \u2013 to their own peril.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
