January 29, 2025 —<\/em> PEF leader Michele Rosello, chair of the Statewide Women\u2019s Committee (SWC), was the first person at Foley Square in New York City on January 18, preparing her sign and getting ready to step off in the name of justice as part of the annual People\u2019s March. She was interviewed by the CW affiliate, <\/span>PIX11<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A contingent of PEF members joined thousands of New Yorkers in solidarity as they took to the streets of New York City to fight for reproductive rights, climate action, justice for Black and brown communities, sensible gun laws, LGBTQIA+ and immigration rights.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very organic group, a nonviolent group,\u201d Rosello said. \u201cWe need to support each other now more than ever. We need to pay attention to our rights. We rallied about what is going to happen going forward and how we need to be strong and brace ourselves and work together.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rosello said there was a lot of networking among the groups participating and PEF came out to represent not only the communities at risk, but also the labor movement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m grateful it was so calm and moved so smoothly,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was a good day.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The People\u2019s March evolved from the Women\u2019s March, a worldwide protest on January 21, 2017, the day after the first inauguration of Donald Trump as president of the United States. This year, the march took place two days before Trump\u2019s second inauguration.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
