{"id":9988,"date":"2026-10-29T11:50:49","date_gmt":"2026-10-29T15:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/?p=9988"},"modified":"2026-10-30T11:09:42","modified_gmt":"2026-10-30T15:09:42","slug":"delegates-deliver-at-pef-convention-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-44-no-9\/delegates-deliver-at-pef-convention-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Delegates deliver at PEF Convention 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">More than 700 dedicated PEF members \u2013 the largest gathering since before the Covid pandemic \u2013 convened in Niagara Falls Oct. 18-21, 2026, to conduct the <a href=\"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-44-no-9\/convention-delegates-rooted-in-solidarity-focused-on-the-work-ahead\/\">business of the union<\/a>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This issue of the Communicator covers all the significant speeches and events that took place \u2013 from my 12<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-44-no-9\/state-of-the-union-pef-must-build-on-progress-prepare-for-future\/\"> State of the Union address<\/a>, to debate over PEF\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-44-no-9\/political-action-gets-results-vp-diantonio-shares-legislative-accomplishments\/\"> Federal and State Legislative Agendas<\/a>, to <a href=\"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-44-no-9\/convention-workshops-cover-workplace-assaults-lesser-known-contract-benefits\/\">workshops<\/a> about workplace assaults and lesser-known Articles of the Contract, to Resolutions that impact PEF\u2019s advocacy and policies, and so much more.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As always, the work was relentless and I thank every Delegate for taking time out of their busy lives to help shape the future of this union. I always leave Convention fired up to advance PEF\u2019s mission, which I have directed every PEF department to keep top of mind in everything they do: \u201cPEF exists to promote and protect the welfare of its members regarding all terms and conditions of employment.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As I said in my address to delegates, now that our largest professional, scientific, and technical bargaining unit has a five-year contract, the most important thing we will do in the years ahead is enforce that contract. And that\u2019s where every member can play a role. If you see something that is unfair or unsafe at work, tell your steward, or tell your field representative. If you don\u2019t know who to contact, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pef.org\/regions\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">call your regional office<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. This union exists to represent you and improve your life at work.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Two final notes: First, please <a href=\"https:\/\/communicator.pef.org\/issue\/volume-44-no-9\/pef-encourages-members-to-get-involved-and-vote\/\">make a plan to vote<\/a>. Early voting is underway now and Election Day is Nov. 3. Vote for candidates who share your union values and will support policies that benefit working families. Second, if you\u2019re like me and don\u2019t always have time to read long articles, you\u2019ll notice a new \u201cListen\u201d button at the top of every <em>Communicator<\/em> story. Click it and the story will be read to you.
