May 19, 2025 — PEF Division 240 is conducting its annual Prashant “Peter” Singapura College Scholarship Contest. The Division awards up to nine scholarships: two $1,000 awards; one $500 award; three $350 awards; and three $150 awards.
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- Be a PEF member of Division 240 or their dependent or their immediate family member (mother, father, son, daughter, spouse or domestic partner).
- Provide proof of full time or part time enrollment at an accredited college or university for Fall 2024 or Spring 2025, or a College Acceptance letter for Fall 2025 to an accredited college or university.
Applicants must submit an essay using the theme of “Describe a positive and a negative use of artificial intelligence. Describe a use of artificial intelligence that you’d like to implement.” The essay must be between 600 and 1,000 words (2 to 4 pages) and double-spaced typewritten.
- Full-time/Part-time students: Essays will be reviewed and the highest scoring three essays will be chosen as winners to receive two $1,000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship. All remaining essays will be submitted for a random drawing with one $150 winner chosen at random.
- College-bound students: Essays will be reviewed and the three highest scoring essays will be chosen as winners to receive a $350 scholarship each. All remaining essays will be submitted for a random drawing with two $150 winners chosen at random.
Scholarship applications, typewritten essays, and college transcript/college acceptance letters must be emailed to D240scholarship@pefdiv240.org by June 27. Winners will be announced by July 18.
There must be at least five entries received for each of the scholarships to be awarded. If this threshold is not met, then the scholarships for that category will be awarded as follows: Up to three $500 scholarships for full-time/part-time college students and up to two $250 scholarships for college-bound students.
